不過他坦承，一年一度的萬恩貓選美競賽「單調乏味」，凸顯出這類貓切實其實不太喜好社交，彼此之間很難擦出火花。


芬蘭的研究認為，土耳其特有貓品種萬恩貓「最好鬥而且彼此不太社交」。土耳其萬恩貓專家诠釋，這類貓「常常不願意跟他人共享飼主」，然則「伶俐、溫馴又愛玩」。

他告知伊赫拉斯通信社（Ihlas News Agency）：「若是是綜合研究的了局，我固然會予以尊敬，但此一研究並不是如斯。對萬恩貓的性情沒有恰當認識就說牠是最具進犯性品種，這並不正確。」

曩昔25年在收留所賜顧幫襯喵星人的貝耶爾（Mehmet Atar Bayır）認為，芬蘭的研究和他自己的長期考察天差地遠。

芬蘭赫爾辛基大學（University of Helsinki）針對26個分歧品種、共4300多隻貓的性格和行為進行研究後認為，萬恩貓（Van cat）「對人類具高度進犯性，卻不太跟其他喵星人社交」。

如此評價讓土耳其人很不服氣。土東萬恩省百年大學（Yuzuncu Yil University）萬恩貓研究中間（Van Cat Research Center）主任卡雅（Abdullah Kaya）就認為，上述研究資料不足。

貝耶爾說：「牠們註重『家庭』關係，一最先可能會對其他人保持距離。可是一旦感觸感染到生疏人身上的正能量，牠們就會改變態度，變得友愛。」

曩昔20年都在研究萬恩貓的卡雅指出，萬恩貓和飼主「豪情深摯」，並且「往往不願意跟他人同享飼主」。
